Recommended Read – You ARE a Badass

Welcome to the newest edition to the Super Normal site, Recommended Reads!  Each week I will be recommending some titles in the podcast episode, but I will use these R&R’s (yes, I acknowledge the double entendre!) to delve a bit deeper into my picks and share what I got from the read.

First up is the book You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero.  Now, Jen has a couple of books and this happens to be only one of her New York Times best sellers, but it is by far one of the most important books I have ever read.

I’m going to stop you right there and say, YES BITCH SELF HELP BOOKS ACTUALLY HELP, LIKE…WHAT?  I did not know this.  I always stigmatized the self-help section of Barnes and Noble as the crusty and musty do-gooders who don’t know how to think for themselves, and boy was I wrong.  Not proud of myself for that one.  This book teaches you how to take your thoughts and your life, reevaluate your current situation, and really just push you to your potential.

For me, I never had a full team rooting me on every step of the way.  My family was supportive, but I was treading in uncharted territory for them and it made relating to the journey of their early careers literally impossible.  For a while, I followed protocol, did what I was “supposed to do” in my life, but eventually (and very early on) I got sick and tired of doing what was expected.  I can honestly say that this book pushed me to start Super Normal and for that, I owe Jen a great deal.

Check this book out by going to or by clicking this link and search for You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life.  When I typed “Badass” into the search bar and pressed enter, it was the first suggestion for me!  If you use my link, you’ll get a free audiobook download with a free 30-day trial.  Seriously, just cancel that shit if you don’t like it.
